An ode to project managers all over the globe.
One morning, I woke up and asked myself “What do I want to be when my time comes?”
The day before, I was laid off as operations manager.
Instead of dwelling in self-pity, this was a great opportunity.
I asked myself a question.
A very important question.
“What am I most passionate about?” What are my passions?
It hit me then.
I love leading teams but more than that, I love leading them towards a common goal. It is an achievement we can all be proud to make the world a better place.
So I decided to concentrate on that aspect of my work.
Project Management
Hence, why am i a project manager?
I am a project manager because it is my desire to make a difference in the lives of others.
My teams and me take a vision and make it a reality.
Because I know how to make my team’s lives more enjoyable and fulfilling, I am a project manager. I help them see the dramatic difference they make every day.
If I do it correctly, any obstacles or missing pieces that can cause confusion will be avoided so my teams can get the important job done.
I am a project manager who guides the construction of homes for families and professionals so that THEY can make the world a better place.
I am a project manager who ensures that medical professionals have the tools they require to heal the sick and prolong the lives of our loved ones.
I am a project manager, which allows me to give back to my community by giving back a valuable skill that non profit organizations often lack.
I am a project manager who works to protect the planet we live on. It should be beautiful for my children’s grandchildren.
I am a project manager, so we can push the limits of our knowledge and learn more from this amazing universe through science and exploration.
So why am i a project manager?
Because I make the world better.
You can.
