Global Knowledge’s 2020 IT Skills and Salary Report shows that cybersecurity professionals in the US earn an average salary in the region of $153,655 per year. This is the highest average salary for any domain, and it confirms the importance of the domain and the professionals who are qualified to work there.
CompTIA Security+ is the most prestigious certification in the IT security industry. It is recognized worldwide as the most important certification for new professionals in the field. Security+ certifies that a professional has the technical skills and expertise to perform core security functions. Security+ is a vendor-neutral credential, making it an ideal starting point for advanced cybersecurity certifications. This certification allows you to pursue a promising career in cybersecurity.
The Security+ credential will cover all the basic theoretical concepts. It prepares IT professionals to handle real-world security incidents and prepares them for them. The CompTIA (Computing Technology Industry Association), which developed the credential, teamed up with organizations that deal with real-world threats to IT security every day, to ensure its validity. You will need to have experience in multiple IT security roles to pass the Security+ certification exam. You will need to be able to identify threats, detect intrusions and conduct penetration testing.
